Centuries of History and Dedication in Every Bottle

Imagine a vineyard with roots tracing back to the year 1245. For more than six generations, one family lovingly tended to this land, preserving its essence through the centuries. Over time, the estate changed hands several times, eventually falling into neglect in the early 21st century, leaving its rich history in silence.

In 2020, Leon and Renny Ramakers arrived at this historic land, determined to restore its former glory and vitality. Thus began a new chapter for the CAN REON vineyard, where the old and the new are intertwined in perfect harmony. The region’s historical heritage blends seamlessly with the passion, vision, and innovation of its new stewards.

Today, CAN REON wines carry centuries of history and dedication in every bottle. Each sip tells a tale of love and respect for the land, inviting those who taste it to become part of this exciting story.

Tradition and Quality
in the Alella D.O.

Located in the town of Tiana (Barcelona), the vineyards of CAN REON are part of the historic Alella Denomination of Origin (D.O.), a wine region with roots dating back to Roman times.

At an altitude of approximately 170 meters above sea level, these vineyards benefit from the Mediterranean breeze and a sunny climate that ensures optimal grape ripening. This unique environment imparts the wines with a soft character and delicate hints of salinity, reflecting the proximity of the sea.

The vineyard soil consists of sablón, a porous sandstone typical of the area formed by the decomposition of granite. This distinctive soil contributes significantly to the exceptional quality of the wines produced on the estate.

Currently, the vineyards boast 3,700 original vines, which remain productive after more than 80 years. In 2021, 4,700 new vines were added, featuring traditional varieties such as Garnacha, Pansa Blanca (Xarel·lo), Picapoll, and Sumoll, ensuring continuity and diversity in production.

At CAN REON, the combination of tradition and renewal guarantees that every wine is a true expression of the terroir and the legacy of this unique region.

The Vineyard
in Good Hands

Jordi Campreciós is responsible for cultivating the vines and producing the wines at CAN REON, a task he combines with his personal project in Tiana, where he also creates high-quality wines.

A civil engineer by training, Jordi has always been deeply connected to the world of winemaking through his family roots. He specialized as an oenologist in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia and began his professional career in the DO Pla de Bages, a region that marked his first steps in the industry.

Later, under the guidance of the renowned French oenologist Dominique Roujou de Boubée, he delved into regenerative viticulture, a philosophy that perfectly aligns with the vision Leon and Renny have for the vineyard at CAN REON: absolute respect for the land to achieve the finest fruits.

Regenerative Viticulture

Regenerative viticulture promotes fertile soil rich in minerals, organic matter, and microorganisms. To achieve this, it avoids aggressive plowing, uses natural manure from grazing animals, and eliminates chemical fertilizers. Additionally, a natural plant cover is maintained to protect the soil from erosion. This approach allows the plants to be better nourished, more disease-resistant, and maintain thermal balance in the soil. As a result, the grapes ripen more slowly, achieving an ideal balance of acidity and freshness.

The fruit of this method is a wine with a unique identity: more aromatic, fresh, and harmonious, reflecting a commitment to the land and oenological excellence.

This Grenache and Sumoll blend comes from a very small plot of old vines in the hills of Tiana, overlooking the Mediterranean sea. Black Grenache is known for its sweet red fruit and spice notes, whereas Sumoll brings freshness and mediterranean aromatic herbs.
This pairing of varieties allows both to blend in harmony, showcasing their unique characteristics and expressing the microclimate and terroir of this vineyard by the sea. Light/medium bodied.
An inviting nose with notes of red cherries, strawberries and garrigue herbs. On the palate, it is lively and refreshing, with smooth tannins and spicy notes. The perfect wine to start a meal.

Suggestions

Best paired with white and red meats, dishes with aromatic Mediterranean herbs, dishes with acidic flavours (such as tomato sauces); beef stew, grilled fish, mountain rice dishes and with pasta, rice, potatoes, grilled vegetables, cured meats and matured cheeses.

Tasting notes

A white wine that combines the emblematic Pansa Blanca of our DO (Alella) with the classic Garnacha Blanca, creating a wine with character.
The Pansa Blanca contributes aromas of dried herbs and citrus peel, while the Garnacha Blanca adds body, texture and notes of bone fruit, such as white peach and yellow plum. Pleasant on the palate with a balanced acidity and texture that invites repeat sips. Grown in a small plot of vines, located on the steep slopes of Tiana overlooking the sea.

Suggestions

Fish, seafood, white meats, salads ( not too much acidity or vinegars), creamy cheeses, pasta, rice. It admits a certain presence of bitter and not too spicy flavours.
